What can you do?

Translate into your language... Would you like to make a Barefoot Guide available to a whole new audience? If you have experience of translating and would be willing to work on a translation of one of the Barefoot Guides, either alone or as a group, we need you!

Edit... Are you good at spotting spelling and grammar mistakes, clunky or hard to understand language? Do you want to make the Barefoot Guides understandable – in English or another language – to the widest audience possible?

Website maintenance and development... Do you have IT skills and want to contribute to developing the Barefoot Guide connection community and keeping our website up-to-date, accessible and attractive?

Resource centre... Do you love surfing the net to find new resources and sharing them with like-minded people? You can help to keep our resource centre up-to-date and relevant.

Fundraising... can you write proposals? Do you have some innovative ideas for raising money? We’d like to hear from you.

Write... got an idea for a new Barefoot Guide or want to be involved in one that’s underway? (link to new BFG page) Writing a blog that you think is relevant and want to make the link – go to Write a Barefoot Guide

Volunteering procedure
We are a community of volunteers and we want as many people as possible to be involved in spreading the Barefoot Guide word and engaging with the big issues of social change. We want your volunteering experience to be a good one and hope that you’ll become a permanent member of our community. Here’s what you can expect:

Once you have decided what you are interested in and follow the link, you will be contacted by a member of the Core Team (all volunteers themselves) and linked with the person responsible for your area of interest. They will discuss with you how you can be involved and what that will entail in terms of time and commitment.

Once you’ve agreed what you will do, the Volunteer Coordinator will be informed and you will be put on our volunteer database. This means we will have a record of the work you’ve done (in case you need it for a reference for example). We may also contact you if we have work within your area of expertise that needs doing. Your contact details will not be shared with anyone without your permission and you can ask to be taken off the database at any time.

If you have any concerns, you can speak to me, the Volunteer Coordinator.

To enquire about volunteering or to sign up email us.

WHAT HAVE OTHERS SAID ABOUT THE bAREFOOT gUIDES...

The Barefoot Guides have been the key influences in my life and work… my constant companions in my community and organisational development work.
Marie Corcoran-tindill, Trainer, Facilitator of community and group processes, Dublin

The Barefoot initiative is itself an exciting expression of social change.
Inez Hackenberg, Utrecht University

As a trained action learning facilitator their guides have helped me work with grassroots communities in Myanmar and Thailand.
Kevina Maddick, Program Manager at Right To Play, Bangkok

The Barefoot Guide's transformative process… shows us the way to transcend borders, sectors, limits, to break the silos!
Vincent Stevaux, ITECO, Bruxelles

Barefoot Guide has been creating phenomenal content for the critical process of experiential reflection at both individual and organizational levels.
Jesse Chen, Changemakers, Washington

…a wonderful contribution to open access knowledge, grounded on a great depth of experience and horizontal learning from across the world.
Samantha Button, East Africa Program Head, Maliasili

…the Barefoot Guide collection is having a great influence, especially the lives of field workers and communities.
Muta Wakilu Tamasco, Ghana

The Barefoot Guide Connection has a unique and truly transformational approach to collaboration, learning and facilitating social, transformational change across borders.
Tobias Troll Director, EDGE Europe at EDGE Funders Alliance, Bruxelles

This unusual and exceptional volume (and series) is hugely accessible yet deeply rooted in solid theory and extensive practice across a wide range of contexts and fields. Expect from it something truly unique in its combination of insight, reflection, experience and highly usable mixed text/visual presentation. It is not "dumbed down." I have seen it bite as deeply at high academic and professional level as at grassroots community leadership level, an astonishing achievement worth honouring.
Professor Jim Cochrane Cape Town
