You will also discover how to obtain and prepare the food to maintain its medicinal value including information on local and indigenous plants and traditional preparations filled with the best nutrients. We celebrate our healthy traditional African diets based on this marvelous gift from nature, validated and supported by modern scientific knowledge.

Though written 18 months ago, the theme of the Barefoot Guide and of this filmed drama remain as relevant as ever: eating healthily is likely to help you greatly in dealing with sicknesses, such as Covid, where people’s lifestyles impact the severity of the symptoms. It was clear from early on with Covid that people with NCDs such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and so on were usually more affected if they caught Covid.  A good place to start eating healthily are the traditional foods, dishes, drinks, diets and cuisines of any area. We believe that not nearly enough attention has been given to the value of eating healthily during this Covid pandemic.

Please share with anyone you think might like to watch this. We think that the film could usefully be used as a discussion starter on many issues related to eating healthily and dealing with sicknesses like Covid, and future Covids.
